Pencil & transparent ink on cut tracing paper. 2007

Outlines are drawn around handwriting, which have been obscured with white-out into cloud like shapes. The form of sentence structure is maintained with out any of the information.  The areas that would have had text are cut out leaving holes instead of information. The negative space, which beomes positive space, has delicate brocade patterns screenprinted onto the surface in transparent ink. The moisture creates a modeled rippled texture, adding to the physicality of the paper object, diminishing the sense of communication into a softened floating film.
